the face behind the mask ,
i, pia agree that i have read the rules and the plot of this site. i have been roleplaying for about two years and especially love roleplaying harry potter/equine. i joined this site because it has been a long time since i've seen such a nice hp site that hasn't done anything too outrageous to the plot. other characters i have here are none as of yet.
making it short and sweet ,

history;
Caiaga's parents - Clintus and Melinda - met while attending Hogwarts. They were quite different - Mel, a muggle-born Hufflepuff and Clint a pure-blood Gryffindor. When they first met in their second years (during a herbology class) they could irritated each other greatly. However, as they grew they saw each other with new eyes and became a couple in their sixth years. They married soon after graduating from Hogwarts and settled in the country side. Clint went on to become an auror soon after while Mel stayed behind as a house-wife. They were happy and Mel soon gave birth to their first son, Vernis.
He was always rather rambunctious, usually preferring to go about his own business than listen to anything his parents said. There were, in fact, quite a few incidents where a few memory charms had to be performed on muggles after the boy went wondering off by himself. Mel yearned for a girl, the nice sweet daughter she had always wanted. It was rather unfortunate that life became quite busy once Vern started at Hogwarts. It was only about five years later that Mel finally got her lovely little girl. Her hair blazed as red as the first light of sunrise, just like her grandmother's on her mother's side, whom she was named after. Her mother was ecstatic, the happiest she had been since her wedding day. Caiaga was fine as a young infant, when all she could do was kick her chubby legs and cry, but as she grew, it became evident that she was to take after her brother. She was, however, not quite as unruly, and Mel was satisfied. Cai and Vern got on quite well. It was astounding how carefully he held her, as if she was made of glass. Vern had never been quite so fond of anything before. Cai grew up quite happily, following her big brother around wherever he went. Their parents did a good job of keeping them shielded from all the Voldemort business. It was on the day of her sixth birthday that she showed her first sign of magical blood. The incident involved the destruction of a few of her mother's favorite flowerbeds.
It was when Cai turned nine that a terrible tragedy occurred. Voldemort had risen and many times had there been killings of large groups of people for no apparent reason. Mel was caught up in one of these. All the family had left of her was a burnt and bedraggled lock of her dark brown curls. Caiaga went through a very hard time then but her grief subsided after about a year. It was on the day that her Hogwarts letter arrived that became her old self again. The feeling of finally getting to see that castle consumed her every thought for several weeks. Caiaga and Clintus traveled to Diagon Alley quite soon afterwards. it was her wand that she was really excited about. Made from ebony and quite springy with a single unicorn tail hair for a core.
It wasn't long before the Hogwarts express was pulling out of the station, Caiaga leaning out the window, waving frantically to her father. Her encounter with the sorting hat was rather memorable. Cai was selfless and hardworking, like her mother and the hat considered putting her in Hufflepuff, but her bravery and goodwill overwhelmed the hat and he placed her in, "GRYFFINDOR!" She was quite popular among her classmates and not too bad in lessons. She was eager to show her father how well she could do and worked quite hard. Even if it wasn't what she expected or desired at first, she showed more talent on the quidditch pitch than in the classroom. Her tiny frame and aerodynamic build made her somewhat of an ideal seeker. It was around this time that the war went into overdrive. Until then she had been able to dismiss most of the goings on but she no longer could. She was a pure-blood at least, so she was not treated too cruelly during the worst of it. Then came the final battle. She wanted to fight. She wanted to avenge her mother. She was there, in the castle while it was all going on, but she never got the chance. She was young, stupid, so the first time she tried to perform a spell she was knocked out cold. She woke several days in her bed at home. She has now come back to the re-built Hogwarts to try to complete her last four years as normally as possible.
all that matters is the present ,
personality;
Caiaga is quite friendly and very pleasant to have around almost all the time. She can be somewhat blunt and straightforward in her approach to socializing but she never means to hurt feelings. However, she has an acid tongue (not literally) when she feels threatened or offended. Often in vain, she attempts to keep herself in check as she is not usually the person to start a fight but will join one without giving it a second thought. She often dismisses her own feelings and obligations to help others with theirs. Her desire to make sure that her friends are fine and happy almost overrides her sense of self-preservation. You may view this as admirable or simply idiotic. Perhaps both.
When it comes to her lessons, she truly does try her very best and she does do well, but not well enough. Her standards are set too high and she beats herself up severely when she does not achieve her goal. However, there are some things in which she excels and pleases even herself. Quidditch is one of these. She is a bullet on almost any broom, able to coax a startling speed out of the most outdated model. The sky is where she feels free. To her, there is no greater feeling than soaring across the pitch. Even though she can become quite reserved and very quiet at times, she is a fierce friend and will hopefully go far in life.

Caiaga tugged at the edge of her black cloak, attempting to wrap it tighter around her as cold air invaded the warmth of her new school clothes. There were dozens of other students around her but their footsteps were drowned out by howling wind. She could hardly hear the booming voice of the large man walking at the front of the group telling them witch way to go. Cai was just thankful that she hadn’t fallen into the inky black water of the lake while they travelled across it in those little boats. She didn’t know whether to be squealing with joy or shaking with nervousness. The two emotions were battling with each other, each determined to get the best of the other. The young girl let her thoughts drift back to the beginning of her day, in an attempt to distract herself from the biting cold. It hadn’t been too much of a struggle, being one of only two children. Vernis had helped lug her trunk into their father’s old car and they’d been off, just on time, if not early. The family of three had arrived at the station quite early but Clintus had had to leave quickly, so it was up to her older brother to get them to platform nine and three quarters safely. All went well, except for a few confused muggles who’d apparently seen two children fall through a wall … They were soon on the Hogwarts express. Vern had gone off to sit with his friends but Caiaga had managed okay without him. She’d met a nice girl; Mary she thought was her name. She couldn’t really hear because she had barely whispered the word. She’d warmed up a bit by the time they’d shared a few chocolate frogs. Mary, who was muggle-born, found it very funny how Cai had kept asking questions about why the people in Mary’s pictures stood all stiff. After that, the ride seemed to take no time at all. Soon they’d gotten off and been herded into the little boats that took first-years to the castle. That was where Caiaga found herself at that moment, walking up stone steps into the glorious warmth of the Hogwarts castle. She felt as though she needed another set of eyes to look at all the lovely things. A while later they were lining up on a stage at the far end of the Great Hall. She watched as the children were sorted into their different houses and quite shortly it was her turn. The hat considered Hufflepuff for a moment but it felt her heart lean towards Gryffindor. She found herself sitting down at a long table lined with people cheering her and shaking her hand enthusiastically. She had finally done it. She was at Hogwarts!
